It may be March but there’s still a chill in the air here in London, which meant the weather was perfect for the Pendsey Trust’s seasonal hog roast held at GJ’s in Wandsworth. Our winter après ski themed hog roast has become quite a hit with our fabulous supporters, and many rocked up in their best ski-wear, goggles and bobble hats. You could have been mistaken for thinking you were at a party in the Alps rather than south London – although the Six Nations rugby being shown on the big screens in the outside marquee may have been a giveaway!
Our supporters queued up outside the enchanted fairy-light lit marquee for their share of the hog, and there was a brief moment of quiet in the bustling room as everyone tucked into their delicious meals. Of course, that didn’t last for long as excitement started to build for the raffle.
Guests had the chance to win one of our top prizes up for grabs, ranging from tickets to a Banana Cabaret comedy night and tickets to a Surrey v Kent cricket match thanks to Kia Oval, to a meal for two at Bodo’s Schloss.
After the raffle it was time to dance the night away, with GJ’s very own DJ playing chart toppers until the early hours.
We are delighted to have raised over £600 through tickets and the raffle, and as always, every single penny will be going to Dr Pendsey in India who will in turn use the money to arrange education/skill building opportunities for young individuals who suffer from Type 1 Diabetes.
We would like to thank our supporters and to all those companies that supplied raffle prizes, as well as GJ’s for hosting us, for a truly wonderful party.
