Off the back of our first full calender year in operation our President, Lucy Laycock, has written a ‘Thank You’ statement to accompany our most recent Pendsey Trust Newsletter!
Dear Valued Supporters,
2014 has been a fantastic year for The Pendsey Trust, among other things achieving registered charity status, co-leading a campaign which engaged individuals across 43 countries, and most importantly, helping even more young people gain access to educational opportunities which will help them break out of poverty and afford the costs of their own medication.
I was fortunate enough to visit our local partner in India back in August and see the amazing work you have helped us achieve, and meet some of the young people who are looking forward to a future where they can afford their own medication thanks to you. We were able to deliver 100 bikes to ensure that these young people can access these opportunities safely and easily, and I was honoured to deliver a speech to these inspirational young people.
Moving into 2015, we are keen to grow our supporter pool and are appealing for anyone who would like to increase their commitment to us to get in touch. As well as a newsletter which gives a flavour of our fundraising activities, please find a role description for those considering becoming Representatives, or eventually Trustees. If you know anyone who you think would be interested, please ask them to get in touch – we have a range of exciting projects we are keen to find people to help us with!
Finally, if you are feeling the need to do something fabulous as we move into the New Year, please think of fundraising for us. Whether taking part in a skydive, doing a bake sale, or donating time to help us continue our work, together we can make great things happen. As the charity continues to be run by volunteers in their spare time, we are able to operate a 100% donation policy. Just £40 provides a year of school for a child in India, and we continue to offer the opportunity for supporters to sponsor the medical costs of a child with Type 1 diabetes for £200 a year. It is not too late to give a loved one the opportunity to sponsor a young person in this way this Christmas- we can even arrange for a personalised certificate! You can donate now here!
We hope you enjoy reading our December Newsletter and wish you all a safe and happy festive period. Many thanks for all your support for The Pendsey Trust in 2014 and we look forward to working with you again in 2015,
Lucy Laycock,
President
