In Memoriam: Michelle Wardle, Founding Trustee

We were sorry to inform you back in December of the tragic and unexpected death of one of our founding trustees, Michelle Wardle. In her short life, Michelle had achieved a huge amount, and was a dedicated supporter of numerous charitable causes.

To recognise Michelle’s role in the early days of The Pendsey Trust, a local artist was commissioned to produce a glass painting to hang in the clinic of our local partner in India, the DREAM Trust. This was the first local partner of The Pendsey Trust and where our vision of a sustainable future for Type 1 diabetics in resource poor countries was born.

On 3rd April 2014 an inauguration ceremony was held for the painting, led by Mr. Prakash Dixit, President of Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), who is also  an Advisory Board Member of Dream Trust. Children supported by The Pendsey Trust were present and a two minute silence was held in respect of her memory and all the hard work she did on their behalf.

We know that the painting will continue to bring a little light into the lives of children in desperate situations visiting the clinic, as will Michelle’s legacy in the form of  her contribution in founding The Pendsey Trust.

Our thoughts are with Michelle’s family at this difficult time and on behalf of everyone at The Pendsey Trust, I pay tribute to her determination, passion and desire to help others less fortunate than herself.
