In India, many children fail to complete education due to lack of transportation in rural areas. Unable to afford expensive bus fares, many have to walk miles and across dangerous terrain, and during the monsoon, areas of the countryside can be cut off altogether to public transport.
A bicycle costs around £35, and provides a child with a free and reliable way to get to school. This is particularly important for the young people with diabetes who we support, as they require a cheap and reliable way to access both medical and education services.
In the summer of 2014 we helped send over 100 bikes to India, and in 2015 we are aiming to continue this wonderful project. Help us achieve our goal by sponsoring a bike! Click here to find out how.
