Ladies and gentlemen…we have take-off!
I am delighted to announce that after months of preparation and planning, we have now officially launched The Pendsey Trust. 80 young professionals from across central London attended a Pub Quiz at The Rose Pub, Vauxhall, and raised around £1130.
The attendees answered 50 questions, 9 pictures and also had to build a model out of newspaper and tape with the title ‘When I grow up I want to be…’ The results were amazing and as judges we had a really hard job choosing our favourites to get the bonus points. The winning team of the night was ‘Glucose for Comfort’.
Guests also had a chance to win one of our fabulous raffle prizes, including dinners at restaurants across London and lifetime memberships at Top Golf, Watford. Many thanks to all the businesses who so kindly donated to this- around £600 of the total raised came from the raffle alone.
The money will be used on a combination of educational scholarships to ensure that the children at the DREAM Trust get consistent schooling (it costs around £40 a year to send a child to school in India) and also to help individuals who want to set up their own small businesses. Stay tuned for more details soon!
We have some really exciting things already in the pipeline, including two brave individuals who plan to cycle Hadrian’s Wall dressed as Centurions- interview coming soon! Myself, Catherine, Anisha and Michelle are also planning ways to tune into Small Charity Week, which will take place from June 17-22.
We are still looking for people who want to get involved in any way, whether it is organising or taking part in an event, skills sharing or any other way you can think of! Here at Pendsey we believe that everyone has something to offer, and are keen to share our exciting venture with as many people as possible. Please get in touch on firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more about us, or for inspiration on how to get involved!
The Rose Pub, Vauxhall, for being such fabulous hosts on Tuesday
And Zomato, The Loose Box, Top Golf, Clapham Picturehouse, GJs, and The Olive Tree for all their kind donations for the raffle.
