Bollywood Banquet – The Pendsey Trust’s 2nd birthday party!

On Thursday 25th June, friends and supporters of The Pendsey Trust gathered in London to celebrate our second anniversary at the highly acclaimed Cinnamon Restaurant in Brick Lane, London.

Guests included Mary and Allan Hayes, who were some of Dr Pendsey’s first supporters within the UK, Dilan Shah, who trekked to Everest base camp last year to fundraise for the charity, and trustees of The Pendsey Trust, who wore sarees sold by a girl helped to set up her own business at our local partner in India.

Lucy Laycock, President of The Pendsey Trust, gave a short speech about the growth and achievements of the charity over the last two years, which includes providing educational scholarships and business loans to children and young adults in India and Tanzania. Jessica Mevel and Dara Meunier-Patterson, who will lead a fundraising cycle expedition of Sussex University students to India in August/ September, introduced themselves and delighted guests with tales of their excitement and anticipation as they prepare for the trip.

Attendees enjoyed delicious starters, curries, rice and naans, and a selection of drinks including plenty of Cobra, kindly donated by the Kia Oval. This was a great opportunity for those who have helped charity grow over the last two years to celebrate the achievements of The Pendsey Trust and network with other supporters, old and new.

A magical evening was had by all, with £461 raised and many promises of future help for The Pendsey Trust. Thank you to the generosity of all of those who attended and we look forward to welcoming you, and new supporters, at future events.
